Technology may be different in 2060 New York, yet the city is still a place of many cultures and great divides. And as ever, some murders receive more attention than others - especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman, found in his Park Avenue apartment, tied to the bed - and strangled - with cords of black velvet.

It doesn't surprise Lieutenant Eve Dallas that Thomas Anders's scandalous death is a source of titillation and speculation for the public - and humiliation for his family. While everyone else in the city is talking about it, those close to Anders aren't so anxious to do so. Fortunately, because Dallas's billionaire husband, Roarke, happens to own the prime real estate where Anders's sporting-goods firm was headquartered, she has some help with access. Before long, she's knocking on doors - or barging through them - to look for the answers she needs.

But the facts don't add up. Physical evidence suggests that the victim didn't struggle. The security breach in the highly fortified apartment indicates that the killer was someone close to Anders, but everyone's alibi checks out, from the wife who was off in the tropics to the loving nephew who stands to inherit millions. Was this a crime of passion - or a carefully planned execution?

It's up to Dallas to solve a sensational case where all involved guard secrets from one another - and strangers may be connected in unexpected, and deadly, ways.

    Another good one
Tiko, pie, Roark and Eve, Charles and Louise, all make for a very interesting mix.

    Strangers in Death
Nothing gets by Eve Dallas and her team! The narrator of this series is absolutely the best! She does such a great job with characters and individual voices that you never need the story to tell you who’s speaking.

Another great thriller read from J.D. Robb. I look foreword to the next one. Dallas is a wonderful, complex character and Roarke is marvelously great for her

    Still hooked
On book 26 and I am still hooked, twists and turns with references to some other amazing written works. This book drew me in and kept my attention all the way to the end.

    Interesting premise
Nice idea. I liked the premise. Strangers on a Train is a good movie and I like how this was a riff off of it. Great listen.

    Death done strange
The “in Death” take on Hitchkock’s film of Patricia Highsmith’s novel “Strangers on a Train”. One of the better constructed stories in the series.
Ericksen does an amazing job voicing the characters in this series.

Not one of the stronger plotlines…
Eh…. A little over-dramatic than I’m used to from this series. And the plot’s been done before. Although, to give credit, it is mentioned that a movie was done with the plot and maybe that’s where the idea came from with the killer(s). Still a great read, though, and I’ve moved onto #27 without hesitation! Just not one of the stronger stories.

As usual an excellent JD ROBB book
Regulars to the series just love Eve and her gang. The rest of the characters regilars and occasionals are always written beautifully whether we hate them or love them. No change here.

Loved it! As always The narrator was wonderful!
You weren’t exactly keep guess but it takes an unexpected twist near the end that’s great. If you have made it this far in the series then you know it’s worth it. If this is your first book then start at the beginning it’s worth it!

    Plot Borrowed From Classic Movie

How could this one be nearly 5 stars?
I adore this series and have been listening from the very first book. But this one was simple not good.

The mystery of the case was, for lack of a better word, boring, because there was no mystery. Eve knew from close to the beginning who did it and pretty much why. The only question was basically how, and to be honest, it was not nearly exciting enough for me to care.

I kept waiting for something to happen in this story and nothing did. There was basically no action the case lacked any of the usual twists and turns and danger that the previous books have had.

The only highlights were a few peripheral stories of Eve’s friends, but frankly I rather wished I had saved my money on this one and skipped it all together. How very disappointing.

    another wonderful novel
I loved how it was only one murder. it didn’t follow the same pattern as the others. which isn’t bad but it’s good. eventually the other murder was connected. I love Baxter! she should make one where Baxter is in it more. I like him more thank Roarke. haha.
