In a world so dark and seductive, expect nothing less than a triple-cross in the explosive all-new Ghostwalker novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan…

In an underground club, a high-ranking public official spends his secret nights indulging in fantasies as exciting as they are depraved. For a seductive employee of the Dungeon, it's her job to fulfill them. But she's playing a far more dangerous game-one of blackmail, politics, and murder that reaches into the shadow world of the Ghostwalkers, and the creation of a spectacular, one-of-a-kind new weapon of defense.

But when a dictator makes his own catastrophic moves, the Ghostwalkers have no choice but to bring in two major players-a man and woman both driven by passion and revenge. Both expendable. Both with nothing left to lose.

    She’s Back!
the GhostWalkers are back! the story line is as strong or stromger than those in the beginning; strong brave men going in harm’s way for home and country and the women they love. a couple of steamy scenes add spice and emotion to keep the tough as nails types human. when half the book is sex scenes it detracts from the story and is an indicator that the author doesn’t care about the book or is too lazy to develop the story line. this book is vintage Feehan; well written with engaging plot and interesting chacters. Tom Stechulte is the best there is. always gives a stellar performance. Browsing several books I’ll usually select one performed by Tom Stech Schulte first!

Someone should smack the publisher’s staff ….
…probably one of the worst lead-ins for a book I’ve read. The main character, Thorn, spends ~15 minutes in the mentioned club.)

What she does do in this book is go from a vengence-driven woman w/a poor self image to a woman who’s no longer letting others define her role. Yes, she’s still after the senior Whitney and there’s certainly a lot of fairly explicit sex — but it’s good to have consistency in your life.

Some of the reviewers have dismissively commented on Thorn’s submissive behavior. Would that be her submissive behavior as she kills various bad people and/or helps defend the other women & children while the men are off on a mission? Tradiitonal Japanese culture has a demonstrated history of the women acting submissive. The reality is that those same women controlled the purse strings, took major roles in politics, and yes, were recognized samurai warriors. While she often portrays herself as a bodyguard to one of her brothers, she’s actually the senior person running a major corporation.

The book does not settle a few pesky issues like how she’s going to handle a partner who’s on active duty with the US government while her corporation is based in Japan. Or how she’s going to juggle work and the possiblity of children. Having her partner wave his hands and say it can all be worked out sounds like a guy.

I thought it was interesting to have the Thorn character survive her abuse by the senior Whitney due to the assimilation into the samurai culture; the structure and training gave her the skills she needed to survive a horrific childhood. I also thought it was interesting for her to finally understand that she didn’t have to accept her beloved adopted father’s image of her life but accept that she could have a loving relationship with a physical side. And even lots of a physical side.

Actually, there were several areas in the book that were either badly written or edited. I would have thought the part where Thorn and Flame save the women & children while the men are offsite should have been greatly expanded. Thorn was pleased to reconnect with other girls from her childhood; that could have been covered more. I also would have liked to had an inkling of what the senior Whitney’s reaction was to finding out that so many of his current efforts towards world domination were thwarted by a young girl he had literally thrown away. So we come back to my complaint about whomever wrote the blurb that service’s listing with the book.

Feehan’s books are a bit formularic — but they still work. This was not the best of her books — but it certainly wasn’t the worst. I’d recommend going back and listening to the whole series again for those of you who’ve been away from it for awhile.

One of the best in the series!!!
Samurai Game is one of the best ones in the GhostWalker series. The characters of Thorn and Sam are different than any other couples we have met so far, which is a refreshing thing. Thorn is a very strong role model for women, especially those who come from an abusive background. She is a warrior and a business woman, and has her own mission- to wipe out Whitney’s accomplices. Sam is everything you want in a hero, while not diminishing Thorn’s accomplishments. The narration is impeccable, and I listen to a lot of books. If you liked Night Game, which has always been my favorite, you will enjoy this one.

Tom Stechschulte is a great narrator
Tom is a great narrator and this story is beautiful. Sam and Thorn are meant to be.

Christine hits a home run this this one
Christine once again hits a home run with Samurai Game. Her Ghostwalker Series is one of my favorite Sci-Fi Fantasy Genre and I find it hard to wait for the next book. But she hasn’t failed yet in not delivering to her fans.

    Spellbinding!
Spellbinding. A wonderful, spellbinding tale by a masterful storyteller. I highly recommend the whole series.

    Favorite Ghostwalker Audio!!
This was such an excellent audio. Thorn’s story was the saddest of “Whitney’s Girls” and Sam was the perfect partner for her. As always, Tom Stechschulte did a wonderful job.
    Thanks service.

    Be respectful of foriegn pronounciations
Great story, love the series however the narrators pronounciation of Japanese words drove me crazy, English is my first language but Japanese is syllabic instead of Sam u rai it ishould be “sa mu rai” Yes people say it the way the narrator said it but if he mispronounced spanish words everyone would be up in arms. Be more respectable of a different culture.

This 9th in the series is AWESOME!

I’ve liked the series, just not this book
I tried to get into this story, but the middle just didn’t work for me, especially when she started calling him Sammy. I like most of the other books in this series, but I just couldn’t get through this one – not even with one of my favourite narrators, Tom Stechschulte, reading.

    Feehan Delivers Yet Again
I love the stories that Christine Feehan creates and her Ghostwalker series is one of my favorites. In Samurai Game she tells us the story of Sam and Thorn. Feehan took her time in exploring how one gains trust and accepts aid in healing after being so thoroughly traumatized as children. The love that is built slowly between these two characters is at times heart-breaking but ultimately one of the strongest in the series. And let us never forget how the incredibility talented Tom Stechschulte brings to live this world of Ghostwalkers.

    More of the Same
Early in the series these books were quite a surprise and delight. After several, however, one gets more steamy sex than story and this can turn out to be a yawner.

Love the series the ghost walkers.
I enjoyed all of the ghost walker books I have read so far. And the narrator is awesome. I wish however there was more romance in the books and not so much action. I still enjoyed the book.

  25. Latoyia Cottrell

    Another great book
This book had new twists, that I really enjoyed. Since the Heroine is Japanese, the author included beautiful elements from her culture. There was also a lot more focus on the military aspect of the story. Feehan must have someone in the Military advising her to be able to add so much detail. She was able to educate the reader about the Military jargon and operations without awkwardness; well done. This is another credit worthy book and I’m off to the next book in the series.

Love Christine Feehan but not this time :o(
Love Christine Feehan, love the series but this book didn’t do it for me. I just couldn’t get into the story or the characters. I have really like Sam in the other books but he seemed like a different person in this one?????? And, Thorn… yes thats what I’m calling her was just annoying. Calling Sam, “Sammy” and fluttering her eye lashes, really who does that? Not a kick butt heroin that’s for sure. Also while the narrator has a beautifuly rich and deep voice he was NOT meant to do a female. His voice is beautiful and sexy for a man but his ladies sound breathy and “dumb” kind of Marilyn Monroe sings Happy Birthday Mr President (sorry I can’t think of a better was to describe it). I’m looking forward to the next book in the series because I KNOW Christine Feehan can not strike out twice. She is an amazing author and I will continue to read her books.

    Honorable Love
Whitney thought Sam Knight Jackson & Asami Thorn Osheia were throw aways. But one man’s junk is another man or woman’s greatest treasure. A treasure hat will be he beginning his downfall as they systematically pick a part his carefully built Empire as only his Ghost Walkers can Game one!

    Samurai Game
There was actually more plot than sex for a change in this book. Still plenty of loving, but balanced nicely with story. I give it ??

The characters deserved a better storyline.
Christine Feehan’s Ghostwalkers series is one of my favorites. The characters, in concert with Tom Stechschulte’s performances, make them an automatic buy for me. This is the first book in the series that was truly disappointing; to the point where I had to force myself to listen to the end so that I didn’t miss any of the storyline that may be relevant to future books. The only reason I gave this book a 3 star rating, instead of 1 or 2 is because of the beginning and ending of the book.

The first few chapters of the book (an hour or so in audio time) were great, detailing the individual backgrounds of Azami and Sam, Azami’s relationship with her brothers and her work to destroy Whitney. Then, the storyline and my interest went south. Azami travels to meet the Ghostwalkers and when she meets Sam, their entourage is attacked. It is during this battle that Sam decides he is in love with her. The next couple hours of dialogue can be condensed into – Sam saying he loves her, Azami says she is not good enough to have the love of any man. Yes you are. No, I am not. Ok, I am. It was endless and painful to listen to because it was repetitive, and more importantly, unrealistic. They had known each other for about an hour. I get the whole Ghostwalkers can sense their soul mate storyline, but this was beyond credulity and when she started calling him “Sammy”, I cringed and hit the fast forward. Also, if you removed each time Azami said she was either “a samurai’, “trained as a samurai” or one of the endless variety of other references to “being samurai”, the audiobook would lose about an hour in length. That said, after Sam and Azami acknowledged their love for each other, the book got interesting again.

The romance was rushed. This story had such potential because the characters individually were interesting – it was only when they were together that they were really boring and had no chemistry together. I am not giving up on this series – I have really liked all the earlier books. If you are new to the Ghostwalker series, don’t start with this novel – it is not representative of the earlier books that made me a fan of the series.

An Excellent Addition to the Ghost Walker Series!
Samurai Game is an excellent addition to the Ghost Walker Series. Tom Stechschulte, as usual, does an excellent job with the narration and totally draws the listener into the story.

    Samurai Game
This is by far one of my favorite Ghostwalker stories. The characters are so full of life and fun. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters life and breadth. It was fun to listen to a story I have read so many times.
