From the mean streets of Detroit rises the newest superstar of professional wrestling, Xavier Cold, better known as Phenomenal X. His muscular physique makes men cower before him and women lose their minds with desire.

Anna Cortez is fresh out of college and naïve to the harsh realities of the real world. Tired of living under the thumb of her conservative family, she defies them when she accepts a job as the assistant to wrestling's most notorious bad boy. Phenomenal X has an animalistic nature that even good girl Anna finds hard to resist.

Forced to share a bed in a sold-out hotel, lines blur between them, and they quickly learn that one lustful night changes everything. Neither one of them will ever be the same.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Two People Running From Their Childhoods Find Love
Anna is leaving her controlling but loving family when she meets wrestling Xavier on a plane. He is the famous wrestler (professional with scripted results) who had a horrible childhood and uses woman. Sweet shelter Anna won’t just jump into bed with him and they develop a sexually tense friendship.
Chapters of the book go back to shows Xavier’s childhood, explains his underlying anger.
He has a constant fear of intimacy and is always deciding Anna is too good for him and he runs and then chases her down again. He just can’t be without her light and she is forgiving and takes him back.
I’d have given this 5 stars but his constant back and forth made me angry and fed up with him
Ending in a cliffhanger whose determination will win!

    Fell flat for me

Right from the start this listen captured my imagination while Xavier captured my heart…. sitting in Economy aboard a plane that will hopefully whisk her away from overbearing religious parents and an unwanted marriage, shy timid Anna locks eyes with a stunning, sexy, drool-worthy man as he prepares to sit in First Class. She doesn’t know it but he’s a famous Wrestler and he’s about to rock her world.

Although he says he’s the villain in this story Xavier comes across as protective, sweet, thoughtful, kind and loving to Anna and when their off the charts sizzling chemistry moves them from the ‘friends’ category into the ‘lovers’ category then things really heat up with jealousy and possessiveness also joining his list of traits. He’s damaged and haunted by his past and terrified of losing his beautiful innocent Anna and will do anything to stop that from happening…… but the one he should fear most is himself.

Worth a credit? Oh YES, what an awesome sexy start to a new series that will be an auto download for me but hopefully they won’t have quite such an epic cliffhanger as this one did which left me pulling my hair out while screaming “NO NO NO OMG NO NO NO !!!”

    Female narrator is so annoying
Just can’t stand the angst this female narrator insists on in all of her performances. Had I paid attention I wouldn’t have purchased the audio version. Uuugggg!

    left me wanting more
Generally I would have skipped over this book because wrestling is not my thing, but someone I follow gave it a good recommendation so I thought why not. I am sooooo glad I did. At first it was ” all right this is pretty good ” but by the end it was phenomenal (PUN INTENDED). By the way go to utube and watch the fan made short it is so cool . I will be right up front though, this is a big cliff hanger for the second book but don’t let that deter you because this was great. You may want to wait for the second book titled Xavier Cold to be released before you listen so you can do an immediate follow up. I CANT WAIT !!!!

    Huge freaking cliffhanger!
While I felt this was a really entertaining audiobook, I was thrown by the giant unexpected cliffhanger. The heroine is a sheltered young girl who left home to get out from under her father’s controlling thumb. On the plane from Seattle to Detroit, she meets a mesmerizing man who captures her attention like a magnet. Once she is at her aunts house in Detroit she realizes he has her cell phone and purse, so she has to find him. They agree to a friend’s only status and start spending time together, though she soon wishes for more from him. After she gets wrongly fired from her job at a bar, the hero convinced her to go on tour with him as his personal assistant on the pro wrestling circuit. Their friendship quickly developed into a sizzling affair, where they both fall in love. Unfortunately, his nemesis on the circuit and his previous PA cook up a scheme to make them miserable and things go desperately wrong. Narration was done very well. Now I have to get the next book!

    Great female narrator!
Phenomenal X is an engaging story with a slow burn to love. The tale brings the hero Xavier and heroine Anna, within each other’s orbits until finally their lives are so entwined they are unable to resist or avoid one another.

I enjoyed everything about this story based in a world of people involved in televised, choreographed wrestling. Everything, that is, until the end when Xavier does something disappointing. I lost my interest in him at this point. But it’s the end of part 1 of 2 and he has a chance and the strength of character to make things right in part 2. So I’ll continue onto book 2 XAVIER COLD.

What MADE this story for me was the narrator, Alexandria Wilde. She injected warmth into the story, voiced the heroine as someone you can love, and the hero as someone who can raise your body temperature. The heroine’s family who are believable secondary characters are well written also. The competitive secondary characters in the wrestling world were a bit over the top, but not unlike wrestlers’ personas as seen on TV. They provided a colourful element to the book. Narrator Sean Crisden was good also although his role was smaller. Without the service experience of the good narration, I’m not sure I would have been a fan of this book.

I can only hope that part 2 XAVIER COLD will be as good as part one. PHENOMENAL X will be a hard act to follow.

    X is phenomenal !!! Cann’t wait for more !!!

Loved the story but the narrator ?…

    Almost Great
The first six hours of this audio were really good; not flawless, not serious, but highly entertaining and with characters I liked and appreciated. Xavier was getting to be quite controlling by then it didn’t rise to any sort of stalker level but it does bear at least some scrutiny.
Then came that awful final hour where a pretty good story became a bad combination of a soap opera and Saved By The Bell.
    SPOILER ALERT coming up.
Given that Phenomenal X is the most popular wrestler in the association; his lack of power and the double standard favoring the Rex the Villain is absurd. The overly dramatic prose complete with the breathless delivery of Alexandria Wilde made the last forty to fifty minutes of this audio almost excruciating to endure. Hopefully the first six hours are more indicative of Michelle Valentine’s new series than is the unfortunate final hour.

Phenomenal X is going to Rock Your World
Alpha sexy hotness is all there is to describe Xaviar Cold. Protective, possessive, caveman at his finest. Anna doesn’t know what to make of this man who charged into her life and took over her heart.

    help wheres the ending

Fabulous chance meeting on an airplane.
I so enjoyed the meeting and banter between these two very different people. The story kept me completely entertained throughout.

  22. Cameron M.

Good thing I waited for the sequels release before I started this series! CLIFFHANGERS SUCK!!

Thinking I’ve Read a Better Version of this Book
Correct me if I’m wrong, wasn’t this book a lesser version of the AMAZING Katy Evan’s “REAL” series? What a disappointment. If I had not read Katy Evan’s “REAL” series, this might have been an OK book, just an OK book and that’s all.

The storyline is thin, characters could have been great, but totally under developed and missed the mark. If you liked this series, I strongly suggest you go download the “REAL” series by Katy Evans. You will see why I feel Phenomenal X is a knock-off. 50 Shades and it’s knock-offs… So overdone. Now the fighters and rock stars? ugh
The narrator did do a nice job.
