Kevin Pollak rose through the comedy club ranks at the feet of Don Rickles and Bill Cosby, Johnny Carson and George Carlin. Named one of Comedy Central's Top 100 Stand-Up Comedians of All Time, he's a killer impressionist-Falk, Shatner, Walken, Nicholson-a versatile actor with one of the most respected filmographies around, and an Internet pioneer. He's done it all, and now he's ready to spill the beans.

Ballsy, hilarious, and revealing, How I Slept My Way to the Middle winningly combines never-before-heard stories featuring A-list entertainers with fan favorites and Kevin's own thoughts about how he made it. He turned down his first invitation to do stand-up on The Tonight Show because he knew that he'd make a bigger splash if he sat on the couch next to Johnny. That huge risk-which paid off in spades-was just the beginning. Find out how he brought John Belushi to his knees, tortured Paul Reiser (twice), bamboozled Larry King, stole Alan Arkin's soul, almost killed Warren Beatty, and sucked face with Robert De Niro's girlfriend. Now a new media entrepreneur, Kevin is laughing proof that if you follow your gut and believe in yourself, you can do anything you want-except have a rational conversation with Rip Torn, who's an evil, paranoid $#!%.

    Good book
Great, simililar to his chat show if he told one long story and no guest. A bunch of different stories in here great that he narrates

    What an interesting life
The book is definitely worth a listen although i didn’t find it to be laugh out loud funny other than a few sections . The author has had a very interesting career which is presented in a funny and colorful way . This was a fun , light , entertaining listen. Enjoy .

  3. Wally Grisostomo

    Fun, Engaging, but … Smug?
Would you try another book from Kevin Pollak and Alan Goldsher and/or Kevin Pollak?

  4. Nyla Klish

    Pee your pants funny
When this book was recommended to me I was skeptic. I typically don’t read bios of celebrities. I am so glad I gave the book a chance. Pollack is hilarious and an amazing story teller. I spent most of my commute/listen time wiping tears from my eyes.

  5. Jaime Lorr

    always good
great listen while kevin is doing the voices. it’s way better than mine will be.

  6. Anthony Rauschenberg

    Funny, smart and entertaining
I’ve listened to this book 4 times now. It only gets better each time. Never gets dull, I look forward to Kevin’s next book!

  7. Vanetta Stolfi

    Excellent Book!!!
Kevin Pollak is so funny, and this book is everything I wanted it to be! The path he took to get where he is today is such a delightful and amazing story, and I loved every second of it!

Laugh Out Loud Funny and Insightful

    Fantastic Book
Great Book. Kevin Pollock is an awesome storyteller. It’s really nice to hear the inside stories of the movies he’s been in. Definitely Recommend.

Very funny – and you want the service version
There might be some pictures in this book that you don’t see in the service version but, then again, the printed version can only hint at the impressions Kevin does. You can’t imagine how funny it is to hear him do Alan Arkin, Peter Falk, Paul Reiser, Christopher Walken, William Shatner and others. Besides the performance aspect of this book, which is reason enough to get this book, Pollak gives an unvarnished look at the entertainment. How hard is it to work in a movie, what is life like on a sitcom, how do (um) middling stars interact with actual stars?
Are you in S.F. Bay area? This book might bring back memories of the long-gone Circle Star Theatre. I saw Kevin Pollok like at Rooster T. Feathers about 23 years ago so you can call me a long-time fan.
Loved this book. Thank you Kevin.

    Entertaining as hell
I am a big fan of pollak and listen to his show and interviews he does. I feel like the book would be great to someone who occasionally listens to his show. I have heard nearly all of his shows and have heard all these stories before but he was great as the narrator and it was still entertaining. of course I recommend it.

  14. Stephan L.

    A very great listen.
Kevin does a great job with the reading/performance. Highly recommended for comedy fans looking for a light hearted and comical listen.

  15. Matt Defenbaugh

    Funny! Funny! Funny!
There are a very limited number of books that I can listen to repeatedly- but this is one of them. (And you want to get this one in audio format to get the full experience of each tale- Pollak is an expert impressionist) The stories are interesting and entertaining and even if you are a regular viewer of the Chat Show – there are stories in this that you haven’t heard before.

A very fun time to be had

Awesome beginning, but slows down a bit.
This would have to be one of the few audio books that I can think of that would be much better then the written book, Kevin does all the voices, and that’s something he’s famous for.

At about an hour and a half in, the book was so good that I actually looked down at my progress bar thinking the book was so good, I was going to be depressed when it ended.

About 15 min later it seemed like the book got a good bit dryer, less funny. It was still a good book, just not the “great” one that it started as. It continued and ended as a good book.

  18. Gertha Jungbluth

    Fun book
Kevin is great at telling stories and his story is fun and interesting at the same time. Fun to listen to and never a dull moment .

  19. Tammy Dotson

    Great read
I loved that he narrated. I’ve always been a fan but I’m a bigger fan now. So smart and talented.

  20. Dominic Inloes

    Loved it!
I love that you had the balls to call people out. It’s a difficult business. My son is in it. Barely a working actor. Anyway, love your humor love your storytelling. Really had fun with the book. You are awesome.

  21. Michaele Stearn

As soon as it was over, I started it again!

    Fan-frickin-tastic!
I loved this book. The audio version is wonderful. He is an American treasure! I have listened to it multiple times and I highly recommend it!

  24. Hee B.

    Fun autobiography read by author
Kevin Pollak relates great stories from his early career to the high point at Carnegie Hall.

  25. Chiquita Fastlaben

Virgin Princesses, Evil Lords, & Human Sacrifices
Beginning with eating his twin sister alive before exiting the womb; Kevin has been heralded for his blood-thirstiness and the delight he gets from taking favorite Christmas presents from 8 – year old children from around the world (say what you want about Kevin, but he believes in equality…at least with misery). He is also a stand-up comic, comedian, actor, talk-show host, and one heck of a poker player. Read all about the less interesting stuff that I have listed here, in his amazing book about some guy he met at the screening of “Juwanna Man”…

I love Kevin Pollak, but this is not a book for me
Would you try another book from Kevin Pollak and Alan Goldsher and/or Kevin Pollak?

  29. Lilly

Fun and funny, wish there had been more!
Really enjoyed hearing Kevin’s experiences on his own voice. I wish there had been more detail on movie set experiences as well as his entrepreneural/creative work in getting the chat show going. Overall a fun memoir and interesting Hollywood insight!

  30. Patrick

    Absolutely hilarious.
This book will give you a whole new appreciation of Kevin Pollack….even if you already thought he was awesome.

  31. Leif Garito

    This is a boring book
The stories are pointless. He isn’t an interesting person. I suppose that’s why he never got past the middle

  32. Gretchen Revelo

    funny as f…
Great book. During the baseball announcer joke I almost had to pull over I was laughing so hard. Only a stuffy idiot would find this anything but a great read.

  33. Ronnie Renzelman

    Amazing Story telling
If you could sum up How I Slept My Way to the Middle in three words, what would they be?
