In this violently passionate, "darkly fascinating world," the Blood rule: a race of witches and warlocks whose power is channeled through magical jewels. Ambitions unfurl in this second novel of The Black Jewels Trilogy, as the realm's dreams of a liberator have finally been made flesh... Jaenelle, singled out by prophecy as the living embodiment of magic, is haunted by the cruel battles the Blood have fought over her-for not all of them await her as their Savior. Nothing, however, can deflect her from her destiny-and the day of reckoning looms near. When her memories return. When her magic matures. When she is forced to accept her fate. On that day, the dark Realms will know what it means to be ruled by Witch.

    Details!
This is a great series! However, there are times that it gets bogged down in details and I feel like I don’t have a clue as to what’s going on. I just have to take in what I can until I get back on solid ground again 🙂

I’m really looking forward to the next one. I can’t wait to see Witch serve Justice!

    Delightful Series!
Loved this series so far. Such an enthralling story. Absolutely loved the narrator as well. He really brought the story to life.

    Excellent
This continues the story of Jaenelle growing up and leading to adulthood. The narrator’s voices are right on and I can’t think of another narrator who would do a better job unless a bunch of people did it. He is spot on with all of his characterizations and all the different episodes that happen. If you know the stories from reading them, then you can understand the narrator and enjoy his naration. This is a great book and continues a great story! Can’t wait for Queen to come out in a couple months!! Keep up the great work John Sharian!

Story line not as strong as first book
This is a filler book. In my opinion, the story isn’t as compelling, but it is necessary to complete the completion of the trilogy. If you use logic, one could easily see what needs to happen in order for Jaenelle to become Witch, dreams come to life, and Daemon to return to be her consort. Not particularly thrilling, but not bad enough to not want to see the final chapter. Honestly, I am just thinking about re reading the last book instead of listening to the audio version.

    My favorite series!
I love the Black Jewels trilogy–the story is enchanting! I’ve read it over a dozen times. It is worth the listen, give it a try!!!

This dark work with a light overtone is a work of art that I truly can’t wait to continue…

Just as great second too me around
Read this in paper back and now listened on service. Never a disappointment though would have loved a female narrator

    Excellent Narrator
The Black Jewels series is incredibly engaging and John Sharian is one of the best narrators to whom I’ve listened. I highly recommend this entire series. Thanks Anne for letting me know when Queen of the Darkness will be released on audio. Can’t wait!

    engaging read
Janelle and Damian’s storyline continues, some things will be rrsolved and others will be Stull dangling at the end. Great saga

    Disappointed
I loved Damon in the first book, but he is MIA in this one. So disappointing! First five hours were a torment because the story was stalled for years. Many new characters were introduced that I didn’t care for. The second half is more tolerable but falls short compared to the first book. Let’s see what the third and final book has to offer!

    A fun listen
I read this series awhile back and enjoyed the books tremendously. Listening to them this time around was great fun the narration was excellent and added much to the story and the pleasure of listening to an Anne Bishop favorite. Thanks

    Heart feeling
I love this series. I can not talk how amazing the characters are and how Mrs. Anne bishop wraps them around your heart.

Great, but the narrator needs some work
This is one of my favorite books to read, and hearing the story of Janelle, Saetan, Daemon, and Lucivar was terrific. The book is technically a transition book, continuing the story of Daughter of Darkness, and leading to the end of the tainted Blood in Queen of Darkness (which I am eagerly awaiting for on audiobook). It follows Janelle’s recovery from her rape, growing into her power, and finally creating a court to save her people. My only disappointment was with the narrator. At times, it seemed like he got tired and lost track of what character was speaking and just used his “narrator voice.” The other problem was that he used the same tone of voice for someone snapping something as someone whining about something.

    Re-read/listen
I think I’ve read the books a few times and when I got the service version I listened to it multiple times. I know it’s worth the cost.
