In a world where the League and its assassins rule, where betrayal and treachery are everywhere . . . the only survivors are those ones who are . . .

BORN OF SHADOWS

For Caillen Dagan, a defiant soldier of fortune, survival isn't a right, it's a brutal daily battle. Moving through the Ichidaian universe like a wraith, his brushes with the law and death are legendary. But when an act of rare heroism reveals his hidden birthright, he's forced into a world much more dangerous and cold-hearted than the bloody streets where he was raised-one of obscene wealth and lethal politics.

Ferocious and determined, Desideria serves as an official bodyguard for her queen. Born of questionable genetics, she will do anything to prove herself worthy of the weapons she carries and the position she's won by combat. But when she uncovers a ruthless plot to assassinate the queen and overthrow her country's government, Desideria is caught in the crosshairs.

With assassination contracts out on both of them, Caillen and Desideria must learn to fight together or die alone. And if they fail, their governments will fall into the hands of an unimaginable evil.

    Excellent
This book has it all – action, espionage, technology, fantasy, romance. I’m glad I bought it on audiobook rather than hardback – I don’t think I could have turned the pages fast enough. Although futuristic, Sherrilyn’s characters are totally believable and the narrator portrayed them as such. I have read at least half of Ms. Kenyon’s books and this is my favorite.

    Action and Humor
I really enjoyed this hook in the series. Caillen is a wonderful hero and the interaction between him and his friends is laugh out loud funny.

14 to 18 yr olds will enjoy this book
This book seemed aimed to the14 to 18 yr olds, and since I’m 67 the sex didn’t ring true to me. But as SF it’s very good.

I love the author very much her books came to me at a very low point in my life and have brought me through some tough times. they just keep getting better and now I can enjoy them while I work at my own business. thank you so much !. Terri Sartwell

Romance Soap Opera novel with a touch of story
Not feeling it, but maybe you will like it. I kept hoping it would get better, no such luck. There were a few bright moments which quickly faded.

    underwhelming story turned softcore porn
I had hopes for the story. The characters were creative and interesting, and the story was engaging. However, I quickly grew weary of the authors perplexing and distracting fixation on the male lead’s constant erections. I ended up fast forwarding through several sections because the “love scenes” became such an unnecessary distraction from the story. By the end I just wanted the story to end in some vain hope that the author would redeem herself, but I was left wanting. If you want a story where a women’s version of male machismo and id driven lust meet a mediocre sci fi story and turns into a lame romance novel then this is for you.

Loved the mix of Sci Fi and Romance!
This was my first Sherrilyn Kenyon book ever! and I loved it! Holter Graham just made this book for me. I don’t know whether or not the first three books are worth buying to read (I don’t think I’d like the readers given the samples) but I did get the next book — both of them on sale, and have enjoyed the ride. Might check out some of her other books now given how much I enjoyed this one!

    Lame
Corny amaturish. One of the worst books I’ve ever read. Endless descriptions of how stunning, hot, magnificent, beautiful, handsome the main characters are.
